Entry VIII

Salam Alaykum,

I pray that  you’re alright and in a state of great health and Iman (faith). In this post I’d like to go into a few topics I’ve been mulling over, reading into, things that have been happening around the world this week. Maybe make this a bi-weekly thing? News from Abdur-Rahman? No? No it is. Once upon a time, maybe? Let’s see. Right.

This week I have taken up listening to French news again, I am trying to increase my knowledge and understanding of French. Over the weekend the French had their municipal elections in which the socialists (the Hollande government) lost heavily due to their failures in handling the economy. The far-right Front-National however, with their Marine Le Pen gained a historic victory in 11 towns. Which is worrying to say the least.

The socialists have failed so much, that even some Muslims and immigrants are willing to vote FN for a change in French politics. The French Banlieues are famous and the economy worse than thought with rising tax and unemployment.

On another note, the german BILD newspaper has done it again, apparently there is such a thing as an Islam-discount that you can cash in when you murder someone or so they say. In February last year a woman was stabbed by her ex, she and her unborn child died and he stood in court. He was found guilty of murder and got a life sentence however the judge did not find that there were aggravating circumstances (usually found in multiple homicide cases) therefore he may be released on good behaviour in 15 years.

The Bild construed this as Islam-discount, due to the judge justifying the sentence by saying that through his cultural and religious background he found himself pressured to do the act. No Sharia in Germany shouted Bild.de manager Julian Reichelt, even politicians joined in with Wolfgang Bosbach saying that “the yard stick  for us has to be the German system of Law and Order and not the Sharia.” It’s gone so far that PI-News praised the BILD.

A study that has yet to be published however found that honour killings since 2002 are usually treated harder by judges than normal partner homicides. In my opinion there shouldn’t even be a distinction in honour killings vs. partner homicides. Every single time a partner homicide happens where one is a Muslim it is labelled an honour killing, while all others even if there are similar narcissistic motives to be found are called family dramas in the media and their religious views are not mentioned. A homicide is a homicide and wrong either way.

This is it this week hopefully more focused and thought out next time around…

Wa Salam,

Abdur-Rahman

….Why it no publish? >.<
