News: Hull Mosque leader Imam Hafiz Salik: I’ll forgive the attacker who blinded me

Imam Salik, the leader of the Hull Mosque and Islamic Centre, said he would be willing to forgive his attacker if he came forward. Imam Salik was hurt after two men and a woman stopped his car as he was driving along Spring Bank West, west Hull, with his wife and daughter. One of the men opened his car door and punched him in the face.

Imam Salik, who has dedicated almost 30 years of his life to promoting peace and unity between different communities in Hull, said: “I am an innocent person who has been hurt for no reason.

“I have always said we should talk to these people who rebel and do things like this and try to make them good citizens. I do have sympathy, I think they do not understand me and my work, because if they did, they wouldn’t have done this.

Don’t know what I should say to this, I pray that he regains his eye sight inshaAllah and that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala forgives his sins for every pinch of pain that he feels as mentioned in the hadith.

‘A’isha ra. reported:

I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying: There is nothing (in the form of trouble) that comes to a believer even if it is the pricking of a thorn that there is decreed for him by Allah good or his sins are obliterated.

[Sahih Muslim 2572]

May Allah swt. also increase him constantly in patience and Iman. Amin.

I hope those that did this will be found quickly and be taken to account, inshaAllah.
